Two Sarasota Films about Addiction
Brandi’s Wish Foundation would like to invite you to a free, private screening and panel discussion of two new short films that explore the issue of prescription drug addiction and overdose.
PG-13 – Parents Strongly Cautioned – Some Material May Be Inappropriate For Children Under 13. These films may contain sex references, explicit language, drug innuendo, strong crude/suggestive humor, and mature/suggestive themes.
Saturday morning April 12th from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Burns Court Cinema. RSVP as soon as possible to firstname.lastname@example.org if you want to insure a seat as space is limited.
Unintentional poisonings due to prescription drug overdose kill more Sarasota County teens and young adults than any other form of death. In teenage deaths caused by overdose, Sarasota’s rate is close to three times higher than that of the state average. It is not surprising, then that two local films have chosen to highlight stories about addiction at the same time and in the same year. In each of these new films, the stories hinge on Sarasota youth whose lives were taken too soon. Perhaps these films are here to make us ask why.
